The
Beadz Story...
Once
upon a time in a land far far away (the early eighties) there
lived a woman named Rowena, a mystical beading princess, who
scoured the landscape looking for unique hand made beads and
antique necklaces, in hope of creating a beautiful and stunning
beaded masterpiece. Travelling around the world, for years on
end, Rowena began to discover that her love of beads and beading
is a universal love which spans the globe.
Rowena's
affinity for beads led her to the beading loops and hangouts
where she was able to discover the locations of the highest
quality beads. Through her world travels Rowena recognized
that the people of New Zealand were being neglected by the
beading world and it became her life long dream to bring beads
from around the world to New Zealand's shores.
As
the eighties faded away, Rowena found herself pondering her
dream of creating a bead haven in New Zealand. She began to
contact her old beading buddies and in 1994 the first Beadz
Unlimited store appeared in Christchurch,
New Zealand. As if by magic, Rowena's dreams had come true.
She filled her shelves with beads, hand source by herself,
and sat back and watched her passion for beads, become the
passion of so many other people in her home town.
As
everyone's adoration for beads grew and grew, this first Beadz
Unlimited store became crowded and small. The mystical beading
princess, Rowena, realized that her compatriots in beading
needed a larger and more awe inspiring setting. In 1996, Rowena
packed up all of her beads and moved to the centre of Christchurch's
beading world, the Art's Centre.
Located
within a beautiful heritage building, the Beadz Unlimited
store again began to fill with beads and people. Work benches
became the focal point of this stunning new shop, as old and
young alike began sharing in their beading experiences. She
also created a space to display her own classic and funky
designs.
As
time has passed, Beadz Unlimited has continued to grow, and
grow and grow, along with Rowena's dreams. Cyberspace is the
new location of these dreams. So now here we are, and Rowena
would like to invite you into our beading collective. This
web site is just a sample of the most popular and unique items
available in our store. It is our desire to bring the beading
world into your realm of existence.
The
mystical beading princess, along with her beading mad staff,
are more than happy to help with any problems you may be experiencing
in your creations, and if there is something you are looking
for and cannot find, we will do our best to find it for you.
Our desire is to make your time while beading, a moment of
sheer delight. So come inside and be mesmerized by what you
